Superintendent
The Essex-Caledonia Supervisory Union invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. We seek an experienced, innovative, and community- minded educational leader with excellent communication and management skills who has demonstrated success in improving student achievement.
Located in the rural Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, the Essex-Caledonia Supervisory Union is comprised of eight towns, four of which maintain schools. The towns served are Concord, Granby, Guildhall, Kirby, Lunenburg/Gilman, Maidstone, Waterford and Victory. Student opportunities for some of these communities include school choice. Most of the students are served by local schools including some in New Hampshire. The only community within the S.U. currently providing a designated high school is Concord. The Essex-Caledonia Supervisory Union District exemplifies the beauty and challenges of living in small rural Vermont communities.
The superintendent will serve as the CEO of the Essex–Caledonia Supervisory Union and its local district boards. He/she shall provide educational leadership and guidance to the boards, school staff, and community members. The superintendent shall prepare for the various SU/district boards, goals and objectives that will also include plans to achieve them. Additionally the superintendent will provide general supervision of the schools, staff, and finances. The successful candidate must also have the energy, collaborative skills and organizational expertise to manage the complexity of a multiple district supervisory union.
