Initiatives
We are moving
forward with governance studies in Pittsfield, Hartford, Hartland, Wilmington, Whitingham, Underhill, Underhill I.D., and Jericho School
Districts. I presented information about
school collaboration and governance studies to the Dummerston
and Putney School Boards.
Policy
Governance
Laura Soares
is facilitating a Policy Governance implementation process with the Hartford
School District. Soares and Robin Scheu facilitated
the first stages of Policy Governance implementation with board members in
Orange Southwest Supervisory Union.
Superintendent
Searches
The VSBA
completed superintendent searches in Southwest Vermont, Washington West, and
Franklin Central Supervisory Unions. The
VSBA, working with Holden Waterman, is currently facilitating a search with the
Rutland Southwest SU.

Evaluation DVD
Laura Soares
and I continue to provide superintendent evaluation workshops to districts that
contracted for superintendent searches last year. I continue to work with Orleans Essex North
to help them set up both a superintendent evaluation process as well as an
administrator 360 degree feedback system.
The VSBA wants to both help districts develop as well as maintain an
effective board/superintendent working relationship. Evaluation is a key ingredient in this
process.
Workshops
I presented
roles and goal setting workshops for the Windsor, Woodstock UHS, and Kindle
Farm School.
We have
started the spring series of the 3Rs workshops (Roles, Responsibilities, and
Relationships) for both new and experienced board members.
NSBA Conference
I presented
workshops in Orlando at the National School Boards Association Conference on
Preventing Bullying and School Crisis, Dealing with Difficult People, and
Getting the School and Community on the Same Page.
