Beginning in the 2008/2009 school year, the Vermont School Custodians and Maintenance Association (VSCMA), together with the Vermont Department of Education, would like to identify and celebrate an individual as Vermont School Custodian of the Year.

Principals, superintendents, and school board chairs are invited to nominate professional school custodians.  Qualified individuals will be current full-time school custodians who have served in a Vermont school for at least five years and who exemplify the positive qualities of a hard-working, dedicated member of their school team.  A committee comprised of the VSCMA officers and a representative from the Department of Education will review nominations and select a custodian early in 2009. The chosen individual will be recognized at the 2009 annual conference.

Nominations should be in the form of a letter detailing the nominee’s strengths, accomplishments, and contribution to her/his school team.  Nominations may be submitted by email to cassandra.ryan@state.vt.us. Deadline for nominations for 2009 School Custodian of the Year is November 24, 2008.
