    Overview: Data Management includes collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information about student learning. Conducting assessments and reporting results on an annual basis are significant, and require a clearly articulated systemic response.

    Guiding Questions
    • What questions do we want the data to answer?
    • Do we have a system that provides the board with essential data on a regular basis?
    • What resources are needed to allow for the collection, analysis, and use of data to support student learning?
    • What policies do we have that address data collection (student privacy, reliability, and validity of data)?
    • How can we use technology to efficiently and effectively manage assessment data?
    • What do the data reveal about systemic strengths and needs?
    • How does the system use the available data?
    • Does the school use a student data management system? If so, who is primarily responsible for maintaining it?
    • What is the system's capacity to generate reports?
    • What information would be helpful to collect?
    • What is the school’s role in collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information?
    Tasks to Consider
    • Review policy.
    • Review budget for data management.
    • Request periodic updates on the data management system from the superintendent.
    • Report to the community student assessment results as required under Act 68.
    • Meet with administration team to clarify and prioritize the data management system.
    • Determine the data management capabilities of the system.
    • Prepare student assessment data reports for the board(s) and community.
    • Meet with the technology coordinator and/or superintendent for the school or district, and inquire about the system being used.
    • Communicate what other information would be helpful to collect to the superintendent.
    • Meet with teachers to determine ease of access, ease of input, and usefulness of the system.
    • Determine the system for internal oversight of the data.
