VSBA is a nonprofit membership organization for the purpose of improving education for all children in Vermont by:
- supporting school boards to function effectively, use resources wisely, and develop strategic plans;
- advocating on the local, state and national levels to create effective policy and legislation;
- facilitating communication where common ground can be reached on the needs, goals and continuous improvement of education.
VSBA is governed by a Board of Directors including six officers elected at the annual meeting (President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Treasurer, and two Members-at-Large)and a regionally elected president and vice president from each of the eight VSBA regions (only one vote from each region).
The VSBA office has a three-member staff to assist districts with our services, locate or provide information, or refer to other appropriate organizations as needed. Member boards vote each year at the VSBA annual meeting on legislative positions concerning statewide issues in education.
